We don't do photos. Do we?

'We Don't do photos' webpage. Suprisingly is about photography.

They don't do photos, at lest that is what they say. But I like what they do (no matter whatever it is).

Images of a dog I barely have met

Quite long time ago (already) I made a nice trip to Greece and I spend a couple of days at the island Santorini. There at the village of Oia there were plenty of dogs wandering around. I took a photo of one of them because I liked the way he was staring at everybody while standing on a wall. And by the time I got home I found out my picture wasn't so bad (it's the picture at the left bottom corner).

Years went by and the other day I was searching for my picture (just don't ask why) and I found some other pictures of dogs on Oia. And one of them was very familiar: it was the same dog, but the picture was took a year later. I felt curious and I started to search for "dogs Oia" at Flickr. There are hundreds and hundreds of them. Oia is quite full of wandering dogs, but I never thougt people would have felt the need to picture them all. From time to time (that dog is not very popular among photograpers) I was able to find some other pictures of the same dog:

4 pictures of the same white dog at Oia

Links to each one of the pictures: 1. Perro en Oia, 2. Perro sin vertigo en Oia, 3. Santorini Island, Greece - The Gaurd Dog of Oia Village, 4. out of the blue

I found quite curious the fact that I am able to follow somehow the live of a dog that lives many thousand kilometers away from me. Just simply thanks to all those hundreds of tourists that keep photographing the dogs and uploading those pictures to Flickr. It is quite touching. By the way I am a little bit worried... the most recent picture of the white dog is from 2007. Is he still alive and well?

A little bit of Opera

Google had issued their new Chrome Browser. And that reminded me that everybody's favourite browser it's not perfect (but memory does not seem to be such a huge problem). So why not try something new?

And that new was quite old: venerable Opera. Even if it does not have a crowd of followers, it is usually very positively reviewed. And has quite a security record: all vulnerabilities are patched.

... so far for the weeks I have been trying it, I'm happy with it.

Huge screens and maximizing windows

Yes, I totally agree... People is having bigger and bigger screens (21" is in all senses huge). So why do people keep on maximizing the windows so they can only work with one window at a time? (Rethinking Window Management)

They didn't told us about this in "Prison Break"...

Maybe it took some time to catch up, but mankind cannot live nowadays without money. I do remember when in my Economy courses I was told about cigarettes being used as money in P.O.W. Camps... But I would have never imagined that Mackerel tins are used as money on american prisions (and it does not mean that inmates crave for Mackerel...)
